Guyra Shire through funding provided by Home & Community Care provide a meals on wheels home delivery service to the residents of Guyra.

The Service is for people who are frail aged people with disabilities and their carers. Some people receive the service temporarily, other are on a more permanent basis which allows them to remain living in their own homes. Clients are assessed every two months, or more often if need be by the Co-ordinator. Couples are catered for where either or both have disabilities, or are frail and elderly. This is a caring service which will in no way undermine the independence and self-respect of the client. The service is not means tested. The client pays for the meal package that they receive. Payments will be collected by the Co-ordinator on each Monday. We cater for all special diets such as diabetic, low fat, salt free etc. Referrals can be made by anyone The meal consists of: soup, main meal, sweet and juice. Meals are cooked and prepared at the Guyra Hospital Kitchen. The meals are then picked up from the kitchen at 11:50 am by our volunteers and delivered to our clients. Volunteers are always required to continue this vital service for the people in our community.
